“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” MLK Jr.
There is so much going on in the world right now… So many negative, sad, incomprehensible things. And yes, there is much sadness, frustration and despair out there. Those things are hard to deal with, I get it. The thing is, when those emotions are not channeled correctly, we can add to the bad vibes without even realising it. It’s a much used statement, “How can you be happy with anyone else if you are not happy with yourself?” And, In coming from a place of understanding, there are many reasons in this present time where things may not be going to plan and you are not completely happy.
First and foremost, be kind to yourself. Treat yourself like your own best friend. Talk to yoursef like a true best friend would. Look out for yourself like someone who truly cares for you would.
Remember, comparison is the thief of joy, try to avoid that. And best believe, nobodys life is perfect, even the most insta worthy portrayals.
You have amazing things to offer too! Sometimes it’s all too easy to listen to the crappy voice rather than the one that bigs us up! Try listening to that legend more!
When you can take all these things into consideration, and implement them into your life, I feel it is much harder to hate on others. When you’re at peace with yourself, your more likely to be at peace with the people in your life. Ok, so Karen has started a new diet and is now a nutritional expert and getting right on your last nerve…I get it. But, in all realness, Karen is probably trying to do all she can to keep herself assured and motivated whilst going round the twist trying not to reach for the Mars Bars. Lets look at the bigger picture.
When we have less expectations for ourselves and others, we are more lenient, and in turn probably going to be less dissapointed in the long run.
Also, think about this. When we hate someone. We are handing over power to them. Imagine getting worked up, feeling the adrenaline pumping, heart racing, thoughts spiralling, and in reality, the person causing this reaction, getting your mind and body churning in a negative way, isn’t even aware of you? The only person that is impacting is us. Again, it comes back to being kind to ourselves first and foremost. The rest will follow….
I get that this current mantra of “BE KIND” is doing the rounds right now. And in it’s simplistic form the message is fairly straightforward. So I would like to say to anyone frustrated with the simplicity and inauthentic connotations of this statement, I get it, it’s not straightforward. It’s hard right now. Let’s try it from another angle.
“Yes, I will Be Kind. I will start with myself. And in doing so, I will become familiar with empathy. Then in turn, I will see myself in others. I will understand and I will have the tools I need to BE KIND.”
We have some gorgeous protective pieces in our collection right now. Wear these ancient symbols with confidence and keep those good vibes coming. We stand by the message of NO HATE and wearing these symbols will show the world you do too.
